How should I do my make-up and hair?

My prom is coming up soon and I'll be wearing a short black dress with red accessories. How should I wear my hair? It's black, straight and medium length. I definitely want to put it up because I'm wearing chandelier earrings. And what about make-up? I don't want to look too dramatic because I don't usually wear make-up. But I do want to look nice! What colors should I put on my eyes, cheeks and lips? (My eyes are dark brown)

FYI - I'm doing hair and make-up by myself, so nothing way too complicated please!

For your hair: I can't help you becuase I dont know what shape your face is.

-If your face is long, don't put all your hair up.

-If your face is square/round, keep the front part of your hair up. The back of your hair should be down.

-If your face is like a heart (pointy chin and round crown), put it in a bun (Asian style).

Eyes: Find brown eyeshadow. At least two shades. If you have two colors, the lighter color goes from on top of eye lashes to a bit before your eyebrow. In between, put the darker shade.

You can wear eyeliner if you want to.

Cheeks: Depends on your skin tone. I sugest that you don't wear anything at all. But if your face isn't clear, then put on some cover-up or foundation.

Lips: Don't choose red!!!!! Pick something very near your own natural lip color. It'll look natural AND smooth. =)

Do a fancy bun and add hairspray to make it look extra shiny. If youre dress is black you should wear mascara,maybe a little black eyeliner, and a reddish tinted lipgloss.

Don't overwhelm ur make up w/ red and black or u'll look like a salsa dancer or goth...unless thats what ur going for... i'd say go for silver shadow on ur lid with a liguid liner in black to thicken the look of ur lashes which u can coat with black mascara. go for a natural peach glow on ur cheeks (it looks lovely on ne skin tone) and finish of ur lips in a nude-peach gloss. for hair id say go for a cute bun w/ hair accesory. this will be simple for u and u'll be the prettiest girl there! ;)

i think you should definatly try to do loose curls. and makeup, well, i'd prolly go for the smoky eye, buttt... maybe some bronze eyeshadow... they have lots of nice makeup at kohls.com ! for cheap, too. highly recommend. they also have nice looks and how to get them and a great new lengthening mascara from Flirt! (which is just like mac, but less expensive)

***ALSO, i advise against wearing Foundation with ANY spf in it, because when you're taking pictures -- the flash is going to reflect off your face and make your face look alot lighter than the rest of you. as spf reflects the sun/light.*** :)

For your eyes take a med. gray color and apply it to the whole lid,then take a forest green and make a V shape from the crease of your eyes to the end of your bottom lid,now take a pearl color and put it just under the the eyebrow,and make sure to blend well. If you have open eyes then take a green liner and line whole bottom lid,if your eyes are smaller only line from the middle of your pupil to the outer corner of your eyes. this will open your eyes alot. I would choose a red lip color that matches best with your skin tone.

For your hair take it and put it in a ponytail on top of your head tighten it so it looks like fountain,now take sections and put them in hot rollers or use a curling iron,then take your hair down,put it in a ponytail at the base of your neck separate the hair just above the ponytail holder take your ponytail and pull it thru. this will give you a french roll look. You can do it with or with out curling your hair.
