I need help finding a pretty updo for my senior prom... any suggestions???

my hair is like between long and short, like to the middle of my back, and it has lots of layers.

What does your dress look like? You should really match the style of your hair to the style of the dress.

if you're good with hair you may be able to do your own. My personal faveourite it "the button".

Put your hair in a high pony, backcomb and but the hair above the band pointing towards your forehead. Secure about an inch from the band using kirby grips. Then flick the remainder of hair back, pointing down towards your neck and secure with clips. then hide any strays with clips

That picture is very nice, but kinda mature. If you want to have fun, do a really easy up style, with some cascading down to frame your face, nothing harsh or overly "done".....just nice and easy.

It would be fab if you used a similar color to you're dress, but highlighted your eyes 1st with a shimmery white, your eyes will look lovely.

Your eyeshadow should not be chosen to enhance the color of your clothing, but rather to enhance the color of your eyes.

I think a medium shade of gray would look pretty.

I would pick up one of those tricolor palletes eyeshadows in blue. You usually sweep the medium color on the pallete across your entire lid, at the crease of your eyes the darkest color...make sure you blend and shade, and last but on the lightest color underneath your eyebrow..make sure you blend here too. I wouldn't use a jet black eyeliner but

a black-brown would be good, a little mascara and your ready to roll. Just remember practice makes perfect with eyemake up so try it out a bit, experiment w/ color before your big night ...Have fun.

if you put just a little neutral blue shimmery eyeshadow on, some BROWN (not black you would look goth) eyliner and some BROWN (same reason as above) mascara on without putting extra layers on you should be good to go

Use mauve eyeshadow with a soft light pink base. This will look so pretty and make your brown eyes stand out. Mauve also goes with your blue dress. i would even go with either a soft pink lipstick with a semi shine lip gloss or a light brown/nude lip colour also with a semi shine gloss. i think to go with blue eyeshadow is too common and may look tacky. You have brown eyes and light brown hair so when you use these colours i mentioned above these features will be accentuated.

You should not match your eye shadow with your dress. That looks weired. You should go for brown with a little glitter and dark brown eye pencil, not liquid eyeliner. If you go to buy the eyeshadow in the mall like clinque, you can ask them for a makeover and get makeup done the day of your prom for free! Gorgeous Girl, you don't need alot of makeup because if you do you will attract more attention to your face than you will to your figure and dress, so you want an even look.

Your makeup should start with a light foundation or powder whichever is to your liking.

eyeshadow comes next, I suggest a silver-white shimmer (very light) applied to the browbone and towards the inner eye, next a peachy colored shadow on the mid eyelid and up towards the center of your lid and out towards the outer eye, you will then use a green shimmer shadow (as close to the color of your eyes)

to line the upper and lower lash line, when applying to the lower lash , apply only to about 3/4 of the entire lower lash, make sure you use a thin sponge wand applicator or brush to ensure a thin line. use a sponge or brush applicator to blend your overall shadow look to eliminate creases or lines so the eyeshadow looks well blended into each color. Apply a very thin line of blk eyeliner to the upper lid only, the line should be applied all the way to the end of the outer eye and then turned up towards the end of your eyebrow, a slight twist and up should do it. Since your eyes are green I suggest a blk mascara, two coats should be enough unless you want it heavier, when applying mascara make sure the brush is clean, use a cloth that will not leave any residue on it, start with the upper lash first , tilt your head up towards heaven then holding your mirror above you begin by coating the upper side of your top lash, then the bottom, to apply to the lower lash you will tilt your head looking down and holding the mirror below you coat the bottom and top of your bottom lashes, wait at least 30 sec. before applying a second coat so your lashes can dry, if not then you will get a bulky look which you don't want.

Next apply two tones of blusher, one starting at the apples of your cheeks, I suggest a very light peach. Then the second tone from the outer part of your apples towards the outer part of your eye, so to say a sweeping motion, out and up, this color can be a tone darker than the peach to give you an enhanced look to your face shape. Next it's lipliner ,lipstick and gloss. I would stay with a peach-rose toned lipstick and a lipliner the same or near the same color as the lipstick, I suggest a lipliner so your lipstick will not run or bleed, if you like the color lipstick you choose and it coordinates well with your overall color use a clear gloss on top to attract! You don't have to go with lipstick and opt for colored gloss.

Your eyebrows are fine, just brush them upwards apply a little eyebrow color brn or brn/blk .

As for your hair I would not color it, I think long curls all the way around is fine because of your bare shoulders you will want your hair down but not all of it, with a few strands pulled up in the front away from that gorgeous face and eyes, tie back with a silver clip to match your dress and silver earrings too (not big ones, medium size dangle) Allow some small strands of your hair to whisp around your face

Honey you will be the Belle of the Ball! I can see you already WOW! Try practicing your makeup and put your earrings and hair pin on before hand so you can see how wonderful you will look that way you know how to modify your look if you have too. Good Luck!

Crimp your hair. Or better yet, curl it (too long to crimp well). Prom is a night where you really go all out with something that looks good, and is totally different.

you have really great eyes so you should definitely go more dramatic on the eye make-up with a neutral lip and a cute up 'do.... get a cute necklace and i think you'll be good to go =) hope that helps!

I think you should try:

閳ヮ敵akeup- black eyeliner on your lids, with silver eyeliner right above it. Put a little silver shadow on your brow bone. Try a natural blush that isn't too noticeable, with a tinted berry lipstick.

閳ヮ敭air- with this dress, I think you should have long, spiraled curls. It will look very nice with the type of dress you picked.

I,d would have to say i would be totally jelous. Any guy who can pull that off is ok in my book. The way i see it is that the cloths you wear , do not make you gay or anything. Why should women have all the fun. Dresses/skirts are way more comfortable then pants and if he wants to wear it , he needs to look right. I,m straight but i wear female cloths every chance i get. lots of people know including my kids friends. Most of the teen girls love to shop with me. Its fun so go for it.

Well, I guess I will go against the grain here...

If you are having trouble when you bring the pic in and not getting what you like, then maybe you need to either go somewhere else, or at least get a different stylist.

Because, as pointed out, the stylist vocabulary is different for each, and really it is easier to say just give me this style then for you to go in depth explaining it.

If you live anywhere near London go to Camden- you can get a really nice, original and fairly priced dress. If not, new look/topshop/primark are brilliant- its not about the price, its about how you wear it.

Dont go to TK Maxx- super tacky.

Debenhams have some nice dresses and fairly priced, also try bridal stores and see, they do great dresses and depending on when your prom is can be very reasonable as most brides have sorted out dresses by end of this month, so the sales start soon!

I don't think organic will make a difference.... Get any super-moisturizing shampoo and conditioner, but read the ingredients to make sure it does not have alcohol, which is very drying and damaging (personally, I like fructis garnier in the green bottles).

Also look into a leave-in conditioner like Infusium 23, and/or hot oil or deep conditioning treatments that are meant to be used once or twice a week. Make sure to follow the directions carefully, as using any type of hair product incorrectly can damage the hair.

If your daughter blow-dries her hair or straightens it, this can also damage and dry out the hair. Some products are specifically designed to help with that.

If your daughter has naturally curly hair (which is often drier than straight hair) check out the book "Curly Girl". It has great tips for how to deal with curly hair, and a bunch of recipes for serums and conditioning treatments that you can make up at home. They really work. The Curly Girl system might seem weird at first, but trust me, it works wonders for your hair.

Well I would use a hydrating or moisturizing shampoo like Dove Moisure Shampoo and Conditioner.

Also tell her to condition her every day, but only use shampoo every other day, because shampoo can dry your hair out. Dove is pretty cheap, but effective. But some really good mouisturizing shampoos are made by top beauty salon companies like: Redken, Matrix, Biolage.

I have this problem and getting married in 4 weeks, everyone on yahoo answers has been telling me to use (warm) 2 tbls. olive oil and 1 tsp. honey in dry hair and then rap up with warm towel for 1 hour, I'm gonna try it to night. I have NO CLUE about organic Shampoo's BUT i do know that I have had the same problem awhile back then I tried Pantene Pro-V... it TRULEY cleans well, puts vibe in my hair, conditions it so its not dry at ALL and also makes it shiney. I would say give it a try and for sure use conditioner and not just shampoo other wise it will continue to stay dry. good luck to her! :)

Well i suggest moisturizers.alot of them........Tell her not to wash her hair everyday.........most people think its healthy well its not it kills the hair..........especially shampoo.......bout 2 or 3 times a week........and days when she isnt doing anything let her go natural keep leave-in conditioners in her hair..............

Have her try some leave-in conditioners. There are a lot of brands to choose from. Heres an at-home tip: Mix together yogurt and 2 eggs. You apply this to your hair and let it sit for 10 minutes.

buy a hot oil treatment and use it once a week. and use a leave in conditioner. the hot oil treatment may need to be found at a beauty supply store or you may need to buy it from your favorite salon. Try putting in a biosilk before the prom to make her hair smooth and silky.

I,m not to sure if organic shampoo will do the trick, but she should use conditioner every time she washes her hair. Have you tried deep conditioning treatments? Use warm water when rinsing the shampoo out, and cold water when rinsing the conditioner out. She should not blow dry or use any styling products. If her hair is fairly long she should not wash her hair every day. It will dry out easily. Maybe you should try a leave-in conditioner. I have very long hair and I use Infusium 23 shanpoo and conditioner. It works for me very well. Look for the kind for dry and dammaged hair, they also have deep conditioners and leavein treatments. you can try goodwill for about 12 to20 dollars. ive gotten a dress there. also i know where i live there is a wedding/evening gown consignment store. try those.

also try shopping really early or really late. if you are plus size then there will be more selection when the dresses are going on sale.

If you have a Gordmans in your area, then you are set. They have soooo much to choose from at such little prices. I got my homecoming dress there for $7.50, no lie. The only down size was I had to get an alternation, but the alteration was only twenty dollars and any dress costing 27.50 works for me! (Also, do not just think they only have homecoming dresses they have fancy, long and elegant ones too!)

Do you have a Ross in your area? I'm a smart spender and I always go there to find dresses for dances and fancy dinners. They've all averaged $15 - $30, when their orig. prices were $80 or something. Marshall's is similar to Ross.

If you don't have access to either of these, you might want to take your chances on ebay, haha. Just as long as you check the measurements provided by the seller and you're not paying too much (ex: if the dress doesn't fit you, you won't have sacrificed too much), you should be fine =]

Me being who I am, plus your description of yourself, would lead me to pick the first one. It just seems a bit classier than the second. #2 is a little miami skank to me, while #1 is classic but funky. Plus number two is a bit too orange, with light blonde hair the blue in the first would really shine. Just my opinion of course...you should totally stick with the one YOU feel best in! I think the mostly-blue one would contrast with your blonde hair better than the pinkish one. While both prints are very hip and 'now', keep in my mind that you'll be looking at pictures of yourself in that dress for the next 30 yrs or more. Sometimes it's the solids or bi-colors that stand up better over the long course of time? Just a thought, is all.....

Jewel tones will be stunning with your coloring. Red would be a spotlight on your figure and teal would highlight hair and flatter skin tone. Even saturated pink or blue would work if you want a brighter dress. Black would be sophisticated but not as attention drawing as a color.
