last year i wore a blue one and this year im thinking of a red dress or maybe a purple one. i have olive skin and brown hair. i would think the red would look very nice but any opinions?

With your coloring I agree red might be your best choice.. but a deep almost burgundy color would be pretty I think.. either way.. the choice is yours.. go with what you like ..:)
