My hair isn't naturally curly, but it has some wave and holds a curl well. When I felt like doing something different, I'd curl it with an iron and put it up in a barrette. I got complimented on it, but one guy I worked with said that it looked like "prom hair." Even when I just scrunched my hair with water (on humid days it creates a loose curly look) and put it up in a claw clip, he teased me about my "prom hair." Do curly updos look too dressy for the everyday, or is this guy's opinion in the minority? I know women with naturally curly hair that wear it up almost all the time. Maybe they get away with it because their's is curly at the roots, so it's obvious that it's naturally curly versus a "done" look? My hair was above shoulder-length for awhile so I usually wore it straight, but now that it's a little longer I want to experiment more.

you're okay. it looks pretty and is a lot easier on your hair, and less time consuming than daily straightening. just don't overdress on top of it maybe.

curly updos don't look too dressy everyday, they just look more put together than the traditional ponytail. its altogether a more sophisticated look. that guys probably jealous cuz his girlfriends hair isnt pretty. or he has nothing else to do. ignore him, obviously his view on hair is a little closed-minded. experiment all you want, a different look every day is very cool. it shows you have imagination.
